Finished!

It's 4:15 a.m. in the The Zone. Not a creature is stirring but plenty are snoring. I have just finished reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. No spoilers or discussion other than to say that the book's ending had far more Christian overtones than I would have expected. And, J.K. Rowling has clearly left herself room to expand upon this series if she so chooses.

'Nuff said.

If it's worth staying up all night to read, I might have to read the Harry Potter books.

Until you mentioned it, I hadn't even picked up on the Christian overtones of the ending, but, of course, you're right. Interesting, isn't it, with all the criticism the series has received from many Christian fundamentalists. I LOVED this book, and the ending. Again, no spoilers for now, though.

John Granger is a conservative Christian critic who has insisted for a number of years that Harry Potter books, like CS Lewis, are seeped in Christian imagery. Interestingly, he's a homeschooling father who learned about the books when he confiscated the copy of Sorcerer's Stone given to his daughter, intending to read it in order to explain to her why she would not be allowed to. Instead, he read it through the first night, went out and purchased the rest of the series the next day, and has been a huge promotor of the series ever since.
I have to avoid his website (www.hogwartsprofessor.com) until I finished the book myself; there's a huge spoiler warning, but interested parties should check it out.
